Yahoo! is a very well known company, known for it's search engine and search marketing products. However, it is less known for one of it's main services - web hosting. This review will tell you if you should consider using Yahoo! Web Hosting for your websites.
As with quite a lot of the bigger hosts these days, they currently only provide one plan - Which apparently is "suitable for all". Their website isn't very specific about the plan they provide (Which isn't that helpful) but this review will explain everything you need to know about Yahoo! Web Hosting.
The first you should know about their hosting plan is the basic specifications and limits on the plan. The plan currently gives unlimited disk space as well as unlimited bandwidth, which means you can host relatively large websites on their hosting plans. Remember, though, that you can't expect to use huge amounts of resources (Such as 250GB of disk space) without them questioning your activity, but still, it's great that they offer this. In terms of other basic features, such as e-mail accounts and FTP accounts, they offer 1,000 accounts of each which is large enough for most people and businesses.
Let's have a look at some of the other features Yahoo! offers. They do offer some great marketing tools for you to use, which is better than what most web hosts can offer you. As you would expect, they can offer you a large Yahoo! Search Marketing coupon, which they do in the form of a $100 coupon! Not only this, though, but they also give you a $50 Google Adwords coupon. They do give some other marketing tools but these aren't as useful, for example free search engine submission to Google, Yahoo!, Bing and Ask. Overall though, one of the best points about Yahoo! Web Hosting is the free marketing tools offered.
Another important aspect to look at is the security of your hosting. Yahoo! do offer a free shared SSL certificate to ensure that if you're a business selling goods and services, that you'll be able to give confidence to your buyers as they know their personal data is secure and safe. Moreover, in terms of reliability, Yahoo! promise to maintain a 99.9% uptime for your sites which is as most web hosting companies offer these days, so it's to be expected.
One possible issue with Yahoo! Web Hosting, however, is the price.If you pay 12 months in advance, it works out at $7.46 per month. If you pay 3 months in advance, it works out at $8.96 per month and if you just pay monthly, it costs $12.95 per month. This cost isn't ridiculously high (It's still a decent price) but you could easily get the same that Yahoo! offers but for a lower cost by trying out a different host, for example HostGator or BlueHost. You may perhaps get more. However, Yahoo! Web Hosting is still of a good quality so you should still consider using them for hosting your sites.
In conclusion, Yahoo! Web Hosting is still a very good hosting company but for a fractionally higher price than some other big web hosts. If you wish to buy reliable hosting from a huge name in the search engine, search marketing and the web hosting market, consider using Yahoo!.
